Center for Foreign Languages and Information Technology

1. History and Development

The Center for Foreign Languages and Informatics is a unit under the University of Economics – Technology for Industries, established under Decision No. 1917/QĐ-BCN dated July 24, 2006 of the Minister of Industry (now the Ministry of Industry and Trade). The Center is a revenue-generating educational service unit with its own seal, authorized to operate and conduct transactions in accordance with the regulations of the University Rector.

Over the years, the Center has continuously developed and expanded in both scale and training capacity. In its early years, the Center only organized English and Informatics courses for approximately 200 learners from within and outside the University. However, by 2008, pursuant to Decision No. 148/QĐ-ĐHKTKTCN dated May 16, 2008 on graduation requirements for students of the University of Economics – Technology for Industries, the Center began organizing examinations and issuing English language certificates for students of intermediate vocational education, full-time college programs, bridging college programs, full-time university programs, and bridging university programs.

In addition, the Center has organized examinations for affiliated training programs in several provinces and cities, including Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Nghe An, Thua Thien Hue, and Ho Chi Minh City. To date, each year the Center conducts numerous training and review courses and organizes examinations to award English proficiency certificates meeting graduation requirements, as well as Informatics certificates, for thousands of students prior to graduation. These activities have significantly contributed to improving students’ foreign language and information technology competencies, meeting the increasing demands of society.

To successfully fulfill the assigned tasks, the Center’s staff continuously strive to improve their professional qualifications and expertise. Currently, the Center has a total of five staff members, including three with Master’s degrees and two with Bachelor’s degrees. In addition, the team of visiting lecturers all hold Master’s degrees in the appropriate specializations in English and Information Technology.

Scientific research activities and the organization of academic workshops are always regarded as one of the Center’s key tasks. Each year, the Center develops initiatives and practical innovations that are evaluated, accepted, and applied within the unit, or participates in institutional-level scientific research projects.

The Center cooperates with the International Cooperation Center, IBEST English Center, IIG Center, and LANMASTER English Center to organize workshops on effective English learning methods and techniques for answering job interview questions in English. These activities have attracted a large number of students and received positive feedback from both students and lecturers within and outside the University.

Regarding the improvement of the material and spiritual well-being of staff and lecturers, the Center regularly organizes field trips and excursions on the occasion of the Lunar New Year and public holidays. It also encourages staff members and Party members to actively participate in cultural and sports movements, as well as artistic activities celebrating major national holidays initiated by the Trade Union and the University.

These activities have effectively fostered a positive, cohesive, and supportive working atmosphere, helping Center staff feel motivated, united, and secure in their professional duties.

Party building activities have always received special attention from the Center’s Party Cell. On June 7, 2012, the Party Cell of the Foreign Languages and Informatics Center was established based on its separation from the former Center Party Cell, under Decision No. 35/QĐ-ĐU dated June 7, 2012 of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the University of Economics – Technology for Industries.

At present, the Party Cell of the Foreign Languages and Informatics Center consists of 03 official Party members (01 male, 02 female), with no probationary Party members.

In order to effectively carry out Party building work, the Party Cell has led its Party members to actively combat factionalism and localism, promote the movement of “Studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, ethics, and style,” and develop plans for inspection and supervision of Party members’ compliance with the Party Charter, resolutions, directives of the Party, as well as the policies and laws of the State. Regular monthly Party Cell meetings are organized in accordance with prescribed timelines.

The contents of Party Cell activities strictly comply with Directive No. 10-CT/TW dated March 30, 2007 of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The principle of democratic centralism is fully implemented in Party activities, with specific tasks assigned to each Party member, thereby promoting individual responsibility and accountability.

Thanks to the close attention paid to political and ideological work, all Party members of the Center consistently demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility in their duties, strictly comply with the Party Charter, State policies and laws, as well as the regulations and rules of the University. Party Cell meetings are held regularly as prescribed, and Party membership fees are fully and punctually paid.
