Youth Union

1. Formation and Development

Alongside the development of the University, through 34 successive terms, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the University of Economics – Technology for Industries has continuously grown in both scale and quality of youth activities and movements.

At present, the Youth Union manages more than 24,000 members, operating within 13 subordinate Youth Unions, consisting of over 450 Youth Union branches and 02 affiliated office-level branches.

The Youth Union functions primarily to provide political and ideological education for its members, inspiring creativity, proactiveness, enthusiasm, and pioneering spirit among young people in academic pursuits, scientific research, national development and defense, as well as community service initiatives.

2. Achievements

Over the years, under the direct leadership of the Party Committee and the University Board of Management, the Youth Union has attained remarkable achievements in youth movements and activities. In recognition of its outstanding contributions, the Youth Union has been honored with numerous prestigious awards, including the Second-Class Labour Order (2004) and the Third-Class Labour Order (1999). Many collectives and individuals have also received certificates of merit from the Central Youth Union and the Nam Dinh Provincial Youth Union.

Thanks to its dynamic initiatives and achievements, each year hundreds of outstanding Youth Union members are nominated to attend political theory training courses as candidates for Party admission, and dozens of exemplary members are recommended and granted the honor of becoming members of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.

5. Functions and Duties

Functions:

• Advise the Party Committee – Board of Rectors and Nam Dinh Provincial Youth Union on guidelines and measures related to youth union affairs and youth movements at the University of Economics – Technology for Industries.
• Lead, direct, and guide Youth Union units, including subordinate Union branches and class-level branches, in formulating specific action programs and tasks in accordance with the directives of the Party Committee – Board of Rectors and higher-level Youth Union bodies, while ensuring alignment with the needs of union members and students.
• Organize activities for union members and students of the University, contributing to the orientation and education of revolutionary ideals, personality development, life skills, and working skills, thereby accompanying the University in cultivating and fostering the young generation.

Duties and Authority

• Monitor and grasp the academic progress, activities, and ideological orientation of union members and students; propose timely solutions and advise the Party Committee – Board of Rectors and Nam Dinh Provincial Youth Union to ensure comprehensive leadership in Youth Union affairs and youth movements.
• Organize inspection, supervision, guidance, and support for Youth Union units, branch-level committees, and class-level committees to effectively implement the Party Committee’s Resolutions and directives of the superior Youth Union.
• Organize and implement cultural, artistic, and sports movements and activities.
• Regularly collaborate with functional offices, faculties, and units within the University, serving as the core political force coordinating with the Student Association to address matters related to Youth Union – Student Association affairs and youth movements within the University.

5. Development Orientation

In the coming period, the Youth Union will continue to implement the campaign “Vietnamese Youth Study and Follow Uncle Ho’s Teachings.” This campaign encompasses the core objectives, values, and areas of activities for Youth Union members.

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the University of Economics – Technology for Industries firmly believes that, under the leadership of Nam Dinh Provincial Youth Union and the Party Committee – Board of Rectors, Youth Union movements and student affairs will continue to grow stronger, achieving even greater accomplishments, worthy of a university that has been honored with many noble awards by the Party and the State.
